Happy new years

It is the end of a year that started so different then I thought it would end. I lost some friends, gained some friends, and finally reconnected with a friend i had been missing for a long time. The last 2 years were the worst years I have gone through, but finally I am at such a great place in my life. Yes, it could be better but I am happy where I am at now. So now I start preparing for next year I start buying christmas presents now for next year. Right now a lot of summer clothes and christmas stuff is on clearance so start your shopping now. Good luck to everyone in the start of a new year and remember to tell the ones closest to you how much you love and care for them. Gas Deals in Texas

IF you live in Texas you probably know about H.E.B grocery. Im not sure how many people are aware of the great gas deal they have going on right now. If you purchase a gift card and use it to pay for your gas you get 12 cents off per gallon. Today I went to H.E.B and the gas was $3.28 so with the 12 cents off i got my gas for $3.16. wal mart has its own deal but they only take off 10 cents off per gallon if you use a gift card.

Yummy Yummy Yummy, My very favorite company EnjoyLife foods sent me a bag of their awesome double chocolate crunch granola. The double chocolate crunch granola is so good, it can be eaten by itself. You can also eat it the way I liked it which is as a cereal.

I really love to eat granola cereal and of course I love chocolate so this granola was perfect for me. Like all of EnjoyLife foods other products their granola is free of gluten, wheat, dairy, peanut, tree nut, egg, soy, fish, and shell fish. The products from EnjoyLife Foods are really great products for people who have food allergies but still want to enjoy their favorite foods.

I was also sent a bag of their semi-sweet chocolate mega chunks for baking. The mega chunk are dairy, soy, and gluten free. I found a gluten free recipe on Foodnetwork.com for chewy gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I just replaced the regular semi-sweet chocolate chips with the mega chunks. I did cut the chunks down to a size that would not be too big for the cookies. My whole family loved them so much and didn’t even know they were gluten free.

Has Your Child been Bullied?

I know I usually just write about coupons and getting great deals, But today I want to write about something that is really important to me. Bullying is something that gets me all worked up and when the school does not do anything to help it makes me even madder.

I have a daughter who is 11 and now in 6^th grade. Since last year when she started 5^th grade a group of girls have been bullying her to the point that she made her depressed, at which point I started taking her to therapy. I went to the school and got no help at all I even went to administrative offices for help. All year I got no help at all, the principal even tried to turn it around and blame it on my daughter. I have to mention that my daughter is not like most kids her age she has ADHD and suffers from emotional problems, she is a great kid and pretty much controls herself the best she can. These kids do not understand how why she is different or how to deal with a person with a disability. They used her differences to make her feel so bad about herself. I even went to the principal and explained to him that there are too many kids committing suicide because of bullying for him to just ignore the situation. I let him know that I am a parent that will fight as long as I have to for my children. I fought all school year but got no help, once the school year was over I was happy that she would be going on to middle school and I hoped that these girls would back off. As soon as the new school year started the bullying started up again as well. Part of me thought it was because they were jealous because I always make sure that my kids have nice clothes and with the way I save money and know how to shop on a small budget I always get them nice clothes. Once the bullying started again I went straight to the principal at this school and again now help.

I know that almost every school has a so-called zero tolerance when it comes to bullying, but I feel a lot of the principals are not holding up to stopping the bullying. I know that I am not the only parent right now dealing with this and I wanted to share my story so that I can give you parents the courage to fight for your kids. I went to the school board and the superintendent and called every day and fought every day. Today I finally got a meeting with the superintendent and told her everything that my kids had been through. One other thing that bothered me was that our school was the lowest scoring school in the district. I didn’t want my kids to deal with not only bullying but also not getting the best education. At the end of my meeting the superintendent let me transfer my children to the highest scoring school in the district and the school that really deals with bullying.

If you are a parent dealing with this and can’t afford to just up and move or to put your kids in private schools like me then I want you to fight and fight as hard as you can. Go to the school board meetings, call the school superintendent every day if you have to but get the help that your kids need. If you are a parent of a kid that does not get bullied please take the time and teach your children that not all the kids are the same and some of them have serious issues.  Our children need to learn how to deal and accept children with special needs.

A Special Day for Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Many people do not know the horrible loss that my husband and I had to go through the year before our youngest son Elyjah was born (he is 2 and a half now). My husband and I had tried for many years to get pregnant and it just never happened so I had given up on it. One day I was having horrible pains and it turned out that I had a huge cyst that had taken over my right ovary. I ended up getting the whole ovary taken out and within a month I was already pregnant, however that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. For the next year I lost 2 more babies before I found out what was causing all the miscarriages. That whole year was a very tough year for me and I know I am not the only women that had to go through this. I became a member of some support groups for women who have lost a child before they were born.

I am bringing this up now because we are getting close to October and in October there is a very special day. October 15^th is pregnancy and infant loss remembrance day. I wanted to share this day so people who may not know there was a special day like this can help remember all those little angel babies in heaven. Whether or not you have lost a child please take some time out of your day and say a prayer for all those babies but also for the families who had to let them go. If you know someone who has lost a baby let them know that on this day you will be thinking about them and the child they lost.

I know that having to lose a baby after you have carried it for 6 weeks or 6 months it all hurts the same. If you have lost a child, or know someone who has please share this very special website with them.  October15th.org is a website that has resources on how to heal after the loss of an unborn child or infant.

On this day I will be thinking of my 3 angel babies but also thinking about my son that I gave birth to because after all those losses being able to have him made it so much more special.

Packaways Review

Now that a new school year is here many kids are going off to college. Many of these kids are moving into dorm rooms and are taking their things with them. Figuring out what to pack their things in is always a problem, these things need to be packed away and protected. Yes, they could use boxes but boxes are not water proof nor do they last very long. So how about a packing product that keeps their belongings safe and can be used time and time again. Packaways are reusable dorm boxes that come in 4 different colors and 3 different sizes. The colors that are available are white, blue, pink, and green. The sizes are classic box size which is the largest, tote, and underbed size. The classic is great for holding a lot of stuff, and the underbed is great for holding shoes or clothing that is not being used at the time. Packaways erect and collapse so easy and there is no tape needed. Packaways are very durable because they are made out of polypropylene and should last 4 years. Labeling your Packaways is also easy because they have a dry erase label on them so when you need to re-label your Packaway all you have to do is erase them. I received 2 Packaways to try out and as soon as I opened the box I had already had them set up. The set up is so simple my 11 and 13 year old did it with no problem. As I was trying to pack my Packaways my 2 year old got a hold of one of them and started playing with it. If you have ever had a 2 year old boy you know how ruff they can play but the Packaways held up even after my son throw them down the stairs. I was able to stuff the classic size with all my purses (which trust me is A LOT of purses). The other Packaways was used to hold all a bunch of Christmas gifts that I bought ahead of time. I stuffed 7 happy napper pillows, 3 Barbies, 2 set of legos, and 3 pairs of shoes. I really like that they come in different colors because you can pick a color that matches with your child’s room. I know sending your kid off to college is hard but with Packaways you can make that move a little bit easier. My Early Birthday Lunch

My birthday is in 4 days and I was really in the mood for some good Italian food. We have a rewards card for Carino's Italian restaurant which we use often so I had a lot of points and rewards stacked up. I always make it a point to sign up for any rewards cards and sign up for all birthday clubs. Carino's sent me a coupon for a free desert which also made me want to go eat lunch there even more. My family consists of me, my husband, and my three children. We all got a meal plus a drink and after we ate we shared the desert. I gave the waitress my rewards card and my coupon and when she came back I was so excited at the price after all my discounts. My total bill before discounts was around $50 but after all discounts I only paid $4.74, yup you red that right $4.74.

If there is a restaurant or store that you visit often and they offer a rewards card or email sign up to get special offers the best thing to do is sign up. What do you have to lose nothing at all you can save money and get free stuff. This is not the first time I have fed my whole family for under $5. Betty Crocker Cereal Muffin Mix #Review and #Giveaway

One of my favorite cereals is Cinnamon Toast Crunch and has been for a long time. Cinnamon is my favorite flavor for many things I put it on anything that it can go on. There are days that I will eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch for dinner because I love it so much so when My Blog Spark offered me the opportunity to try out a new product from Betty Crocker I very happily said yes.

The new products from Betty Crocker are muffins that taste just like some of my favorite cereals. The flavors they have out right now are Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese’s Puffs, and Coca Puffs. I was sent all three flavors and a special prize pack which included an apron, a spoon, tumbler, and therm o snack. My kids were ready for me to make them as soon as I opened the box they came in. The muffins are really simple to make which is good for someone like me who is not a good baker. Every week day at the same time my DVR goes on to record one of my favorite shows to watch The Dr.Oz show. I love watching Dr Oz because he always has really great advice on how to get healthy and about very serious health conditions. There are times when I want to know what that recipe he showed last week was or what was those vitamins he was saying could help you lose weight. Normally I would have to spend a lot of time online looking through the Dr.Oz website, but now there is a new Dr. Oz fan app for your smart phone. I downloaded it to my Samsung galaxy s 2 and had no trouble using it. The app is very easy to use and has all the things I want to find in the palm of my hand. On the Dr. Oz app you can find videos from the show and from his website. The app also has a section where you can find all the recipes from the show and a section that has the top 10 supplements recommended by Dr. Oz with links that send you to Amazon where you can purchase them. If you are a fan of Dr. Oz Like I am and you own a smart phone this is a must have.

I think I need reality TV rehab....

I think I may have a problem I am addicted to reality TV. Yes I know what you’re thinking most of it is not reality and I totally understand that most of it is stage. I normally do not watch the stuff that seems to fake like some of the car repo shows and a few others. There are some shows that I am really hooked on like Love and Hip Hop, Mob Wives, Storage Wars, and my all time favorite The First 48. Tonight it became very clear that my addiction to these shows has become very serious.

My husband and I were watching one of my favorite shows and when he didn’t agree with something on the show and I didn’t agree with him I got so worked up trying to tell him he was wrong lol. I know it’s just a show but some of the things on these shoes I can relate to and some of them just make me mad. One example of a show that makes me so made when I watch it is Teen Mom, yet I still watch it week after week. The thing with Teen Mom is that they are not showing the true struggle of a teen mom, because these moms are getting paid really good money for being on the show so they do not struggle. Most of these mom’s have better cars and even better places to stay then I do and I am a grown adult. I really feel like MTV is making teen girls want to get pregnant so they can get famous (this is just my opinion I’m sorry if your opinion is different). I am so glad that the show is ending for the original teen mom girls; I really think that the show might have ruined amber’s life because the fame and money went to her head. I hope she gets better now that the show will be over because her daughter needs her.

Sorry if I rambled on I just had to write about it because if I would talk to my husband I am sure it will turn into another heated conversation.

Why and How I Use Coupons..

Saving money is something that is very important to me. We are not rich people and we love to be able to provide our children with everything they need and some of the things they want. I enter a lot of contests in the hopes that I can win some of the things that I would love to get my kids. To me this is a normal but some people do not completely understand it. I have had people make fun of me for using coupons or trying to get free stuff. I know some people think what I do is stupid or pointless but I think that paying full price for anything is CRAZY. I realize how much time and energy I put into doing what I do, but when I look at all the clothes I got for my daughter at dirt cheap prices, the free IPod touch I got from a contest, or my huge stock pile of shampoo, body wash, soap, and tooth paste I feel it is all worth it. I haven’t had to buy body wash in a little over a year because I am so stocked up. When I sit and calculate what I really paid for it I jump for joy at the fact I spent so little.

It seems like the city we live in have no stores that offer double or triple coupons which really sucks because I know if they did I would be doing even better than I am doing now. If you are not currently doing the coupon thing you should really rethink it. Even if you only use a few coupons and don’t put in as much work as the people on extreme couponing you can still save a good amount of money. When I first started and didn’t know much about couponing I was saving about $20 every time I went to the store. That $20 adds up my plan is that everything I save from coupons I am going to put into a vacation savings account and see how far I can get with the money I save.

Knowing where to get your coupons is the most important part of couponing. I mainly get my coupons from the Sunday paper, but there are places online where you can print out coupons. The best website for printing coupons is Coupons.com. I find a lot of good coupons from the coupon.com website and you enter your zip code to get coupons specifically for your area. Many of the companies offer coupons on their website or I you contact them most will send you coupons for their products.

I know many people think that cutting coupons is pointless or for people who are cheapskates, well I am very proud to be a cheapskate. All the money I have saved has gone to things for my children and to making my house a home. I know that we do not have to worry about running out of things because I have a stockpile. I also feel that if you can get a good deal on something and you can afford to buy extra even thought you do not need it you should still buy it and donate it to a program that helps needy families.
